ROUNDHOUSE
Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age
Na h-Eileanan Siar

Description

A roundhouse was recorded at this location. It lies within the channel outlet of Loch Phaibeil. It consists of a circular structure of upright stones with one, possibly two, entrances. The site is very denuded and has been scoured by the tidal action. Only one course of stone is visible on the surface. There is a small annex on the N edge of the structure and a curving partition inside. Excavated during 2013 Loch Paible shoredig
The structure is as described, but more exposed and the majority of stones are secure and upright. The structure measures 3.5m in diameter.
