Stonework / walling in the grass slope which forms the coast edge at the west end of Levenwick Bay. Two courses of stone are visible beneath the vegetation at top of face and slumped stone is exposed in an eroding area of sandy slope below associated with anthropogenic soils and midden material containing ash, shell and charcoal. A similar anthropogenic deposit is also exposed in a small unvegetated stretch of the coastal section at beach level where the visible depth is c.0.5m. Two sherds of pottery recovered, possibly prehistoric / Iron Age in date. An amorphous linear mound / bank runs on top of the coastal slope immediately above and behind the exposure. |
