Description

Gear Store (19-20th Century). 1974 photo available on Canmore, no further description recorded. Survey 05/05/2017 Rectangular stone building now unroofed. Main building stands to a height of 1.5m, measures 2.5m east-west by 3m north-south, walls 0.6m thick with entrance 1m wide in east wall. Single pitched roof sloping west-east. North (landward) wall of this building projects c.13m to the east, defining one side of an originally larger building, now demolished on east and south (seaward) sides. The 1st (1873) and 2nd (1905) edition OS maps show the larger building. The flagstone floor of this larger structure is visible at the coast edge in a small area, otherwise overgrown with vegetation. The flags and foundations are visible in section in a small area of erosion at the coast edge.
