The roofless shell of a gabled house is situated behind the beach on the north side of Skateraw Harbour. It appears to have been the southmost of a terrace of four similar-sized dwellings, but only the east wall of the other houses remains. It has an enclosed garden to the seaward side, with steps leading to the beach below. The house measures some c. 10m N-S by 5.5m. The walls, of rubble and mortar, are 0.4-0.5m thick and stand to approx. 1.5m on the E and S, with the surviving N gable standing to approx. 4m. The fireplace in this gable has recently been rebuilt to incorporate a barbecue-type feature. The wall heads have been capped with mortar, possibly in order to consolidate it. There is evidence of a door or window in the S gable. The earthen floor has recently (in 2013/14) been partially relaid in large concrete slabs. The SW corner is missing and has been recently rebuilt in turf to a height of approx. 1m. Adjacent to the N within the footprint of the next house in the terrace is a small outhouse roofed in concrete slabs, but also incorporating some finely dressed stone. There are surface scatters of 19th C/ early 20th C midden (pottery, glass etc.) in the area. The site is visible on 1947 AP's (B174 3087-3090 12/8/47); 1973 AP's show the enclosure to have changed in form (B739 982-4 30/7/73). A roofed structure, NT77NW66, seen on 1946 AP's in this area (B174 3087-3090 12/8/47) is absent on 1965 AP's (OS65/2 308-10 28/3/65) and was not seen during the survey.
