Scotland's Coastal Heritage at Risk

SCHARP goes to Solway

September 27th, 3:31 p.m.

The new SCHARP team spent a very wet and windy few days on the beautiful Solway coast with coastal ranger, Nic Coombey. Highlights of the visit were a 'lost' port at Dalbeattie, an Iron Age promontory fort at Whithorn, the wide range of fish traps and fishing infrastructure, so rare now in other estuaries, and the Cup Cake Cafe in Dock Park. The stand out impression of the Solway Firth was the incredible landscape and light of this deeply historic coast. There is something for everyone here and we are really looking forward to working at the Solway coast in the Spring.
